What is the CCID? The CCID (Credit Card ID Number) is a three or four digit number printed in ink on your Visa, MasterCard, Discover or American Express Card. It provides greater security that your basic number is accurate. The CCID is NOT your PIN number.

Why is it important? When you make a purchase in person, the CCID is not recorded on the receipt. This means it is unlikely to be known by a thief who obtains your credit card number from a lost receipt. When you make a phone or online purchase and provide the extra digits, the credit card company has greater certainty that the card is in your possesion.

What does it look like on Visa, MasterCard and Discover? On the back of the card in the top-right corner of the signature box. Enter the three-digit number following the credit card number. (Below left)

What does it look like on American Express? On the front of the card. Enter the four-digit number on the right directly above the credit card number. (Below right)
