Friction Feed Plotters
Generally, these cutters use friction rollers, and swivel-knife blades to cut un-punched vinyl and other materials. Friction plotters are increasingly popular because they are fast, versatile, and affordable. Technological advancements have dramatically improved accuracy on longer runs, with some models offering tangential-emulation cutting, and optical (or laser) tracking for contour-cutting digitally printed images.

Sprocket Plotters
These cutters use sprocketed rollers to feed punched material, resulting in incredibly accurate cutting. Because of this feed method, they can handle thicker & semi-rigid rolled stock. Tangentially-steered knife blades also offer greater precision on smaller graphics. Cutters are capable of contour-cutting a 50 yard roll of small, printed labels without manual help.
